Many of you know that I'm a big fan of the Brita filter pitcher for reducing plastic water bottle waste (I encourage the use of re-useable SIGG bottles) and promoting healthier tap water.
Now, finally, a group has come together to encourage Brita to take back and recycle their replacement filters! YAY Group!!
Go here and read all about the campaign - including the fact that Clorox owns the American division of Brita, but that the original German company who owns the other divisions does collect and recycle the filters in Europe! It is "doable!!" There you can sign a petition, write the American Brita executives, send your used filters to this group, spread the word and make a donation.
Take back your stinkin' plastic, technically recyclable filters, US Brita! Thank you! :o)

The Take Back The Filter campaign received a call from Brita brand manager Drew McGowan yesterday alerting us that Brita will indeed begin taking back and recycling pitcher filters beginning in January 2009!
